World News and Views :: Top of the News Sumitomo to Build S-SBR Plant in Singapore2:08 AM MST | November 25, 2010 | Deepti Ramesh Sumitomo Chemical says it has decided to construct a plant for the manufacture of solution-polymerized styrene-butadiene rubber (S-SBR) in the Merbau area of Jurong Island, Singapore. The plant will have the capacity to produce 40,000 m.t./year of S-SBR and it is expected to begin commercial operation in the fourth quarter of 2013. “S-SBR is seeing rapid demand growth as a raw material for high-performance, fuel-efficient tires amid increasingly strict worldwide regulations on automobile fuel consumption in efforts to combat global warming,” Sumitomo...
