Solvay to build alkoxylation plant in Singapore; Shell to supply feedstock

Solvay will build a large alkoxylation facility in Singapore that is expected to start operations by 2015 and will serve the fast-growing Asian market for home and personal care, coatings, industrial, agchems, and oil and gas, the company announced today. The facility will be connected to Shell Chemicals' previously announced high-purity ethylene oxide (HPEO) purification column at Jurong Island, Singapore. Shell held a groundbreaking ceremony today for the HPEO unit, which will have an initial capacity of 140,000 m.t./year, and for 2 ethoxylation units...
