Solvay Reports a Fall in Profits and Sales

Solvay reported a 36% decrease in second-quarter 2009 net profits, to €83 million, compared with the corresponding period of 2008, on sales down 12%, to €2.06 billion. The Pharmaceuticals segment of Solvay recorded a 11% increase in sales for the second quarter, to €661 million, compared with the year-ago period. The recurring Ebit for the segment increased by 4%, to €115 million.
