Sinopec Reports a Major Increase in Petrochemicals Output in First Half

China Petroleum & Chemical Corp. (Sinopec, Beijing) reported major incerases in output in the first half of this year. Ethylene production in the first six months rose 41% to 4.202 million m.t.; plastics advanced by close to 30% to 6.089 million m.t., while fibers and synthetic rubbers were up 7.5% and 18.6% to 676,000 m.t. and 485,000 m.t. respectively.
