Sigma-Aldrich Sees Fourth-Quarter Pick-up

Sigma-Aldrich reported fourth-quarter 2009 net income of $93 million, up 10% compared with the same quarter a year earlier, on corresponding sales up 12%, to $573 million. Full-year 2009 net income of $347 million was 2% up on 2008, with sales of $2.1 billion, 2% lower than the year-earlier figure. The company predicts that organic sales for the full year 2010 will increase by about 1% if exchange rates remain near current levels. Sales in 2009 were driven by strong sales growth in the Research Biotech and Sigma-Aldrich Fine Chemicals (SAFC) units...
