Siam Cement's chemicals business reports huge rise in profits, to expand LDPE capacity

SCG Chemicals, the chemical subsidiary of Siam Cement Group (SCG; Bangkok), reports a more than doubling in profits for the first quarter of 2013 compared with the year-ago quarter, to 2.63 billion baht ($91 million), mainly because of better margins, SCG says. First-quarter sales increased 1%, to baht53.47 billion, mainly because of higher sales volume and product prices, SCG says. Ebitda more than tripled, to baht3.23 billion.
