Showa Denko to build ethyl acetate plant in Japan

Showa Denko says it has decided to build a 100,000-m.t./year ethyl acetate plant at its production complex at Oita, Japan, using the company’s proprietary production process technology. The plant will start commercial production in June 2014. Ethyl acetate is used in wide-ranging applications, including in printing ink, paint, electronic materials, pharmaceuticals, and pesticides, and the demand for the product is expected to continue to grow in Japan as well as globally, Showa Denko says.
