Senate Bill Would Reauthorize Plant Security Standards

Senator Susan Collins (R., ME)  introduced on March 3 a bill to extend the Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards (CFATS) until October 2015. The Collins CFATS reauthorization bill would not alter the standards by requiring consideration of Inherently Safer Technologies (IST), a process that would have been required by a bill that cleared the House in late 2009.
