Rockwood to Buy Australian Lithium Producer for $730 Million (Update)

Rockwood Holdings says it has agreed to acquire Talison Lithium (Perth, Australia) for C$6.50/share for an equity purchase price of about C$724 million ($730 million). The price is a 53% premium to Talison's closing price on August 22, 2012. Talison produces lithium concentrate at Greenbushes, Australia from lithium ore. The company says it exports over 350,000 m.t./year of lithium products. Talison also has a lithium brine project located in the Atacama Region III, in Chile.
