World News and Views :: Top of the News Qatar and Itochu Link in $4-Billion Petchem Project in Vietnam12:41 PM MDT | September 22, 2010 | Natasha Alperowicz Qatar Petroleum and Itochu Corp. are in discussions with Siam Cement and PetroVietnam to construct a joint venture petrochemical complex in southern Vietnam, according to local press reports. The complex would cost about $4 billion to build and would be based on an olefins complex with capacity for 1.4 million m.t./year. It would be built on Long Son island and would come onstream in 2015. The reports, quoting Qatar oil minister Abdullah Al-Attiyah, said the negotiations are in advanced stages.
