Private Equity Firm Buys Stake in Univar

Private equity firm Clayton, Dubilier & Rice (CD&R; New York) says it has agreed to acquire a 42.5% stake in Univar in a deal that values Univar at about $4.2 billion CVC Capital Partners (New York) will retain a 42.5% stake in Univar, while Univar management and other investors will hold the remaining share. The deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter.  Univar will postpone its initial public offering and plans to withdraw its registration statement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
