Praxair's Third-Quarter Profits Fall

 Praxair reported third-quarter net income down 10%, to $318 million ($1.02/share), excluding a $7-million tax benefit, on sales down 20%, to $2.3 billion. Sales rose 7% sequentially. Operating profit excluding special items fell 12%, to $480 million. Profits increased 7% from the second quarter, Praxair says.
