World News and Views :: Top of the News Petrobras Advances Suape Polyester Complex9:11 AM MST | December 29, 2009 | Kara Sissell Brazil’s state oil company Petrobras (Rio de Janeiro) says it has received a R$2.6 billion ($1.48 billion) loan from Brazil’s economic development bank BNDES (Rio de Janeiro) for construction of purified terephthalic acid (PTA) and polyethylene therephthalate (PET) units by Petroquimica Suape. Suape is wholly owned by Petrobras’ chemical subsidiary Petroquisa. The complex is under construction at Ipojuca, Pernambuco state, on grounds adjacent to Petrobras’ Aberu e Lima refinery.
