Petro Rabigh's outage damages cracker furnaces, will impact profits

Petro Rabigh (Rabigh, Saudi Arabia), a joint venture between Saudi Aramco and Sumitomo Chemical, said today that, following the recent power outage, the utility supplier Rabigh Arabian Water and Electricity Co. had restored power supplies to its complex. However, investigations have shown that the power failure damaged some of its ethane cracker furnaces. The oil refinery was not damaged by the outage, the company says. Work has begun to restart the undamaged cracker furnaces in the next few days. The repair and maintenance operation on the damaged furnaces...
