Overseas Demand Drives DuPont’s Earnings

DuPont reported third-quarter earnings up 8%, to $526 million (56 cts/share), including a litigation charge, on sales up 6%, to $6.7 million. Earnings were 59 cts/share excluding the charge. The consensus of analysts’ estimates as reported by First Call (Boston) was for 52 cts/share. Sales generated outside the U.S. drove revenue growth, especially from Canada and Latin America where combined sales rose 22%, to $1.1 billion.
