World News and Views :: Top of the News Oman Oil studying large PTA and PET project at the port of Sohar3:19 AM MDT | October 4, 2012 | Natasha Alperowicz Oman Oil Co. (Muscat), a government owned firm, has announced plans to invest $800 million to set up a petrochemical complex at Sohar. The facilities will be designed to produce 1 million m.t./year of purified terephthalic acid (PTA) and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottle resins. The company says it is in the process of establishing a project company which will operate the facilities within the industrial port. The announcement was made by Nasser bin Khamis Al Jashmi, chairman of Oman Oil and an undersecretary at the Ministry of Oil and Gas (Muscat)...
