World News and Views :: Top of the News Ohio Dismisses Suit Against Paintmakers8:24 AM MST | February 18, 2009 | Kara Sissell Ohio’s Attorney General Richard Cordray has dismissed a lead-based paint lawsuit the state had filed against ten former manufacturers of lead-based paint. The Ohio case had been one of the last remaining public nuisance suits against paintmakers. Nuisance suits became a popular way for states to seek compensation for health problems associated with lead paint after a Rhode Island won a landmark case in 2006 against Millennium Holdings, now a subsidiary of LyondellBasell, NL Industries, and Sherwin-Williams (CW, Feb. 11/18, 2008, p. 27).
