Obama Withdraws Changes to Ozone Air-Quality Rule

President Obama has asked the U.S. EPA to withdraw its final rule for revising the National Ambient Air Quality Standard (NAAQS) for ozone, a surprise move that represents a victory for industry groups and Republican lawmakers which had mounted an intense campaign against  release of the revised standard. The chemical industry has repeatedly identified the ozone NAAQS revision as one of industry’s top concerns, in part due to the increased regulatory burden it would impose on hydraulic fracturing operations.
