World News and Views :: Top of the News Nippon Shokubai’s Himeji plant remains offline; no restart date announced8:24 AM MST | November 6, 2012 | Deepti Ramesh Nippon Shokubai says that operations at all the production facilities at its manufacturing complex at Himeji, Japan, remain suspended following the explosion and fire at the site on 29 September. The accident resulted in the death of one firefighter, as well as several serious injuries. Currently, there are no plans to restart operations at the complex, the company says. Nippon Shokubai is the leading producer of superabsorbent polymers (SAP), used to make diapers. The Himeji plant is the company's largest SAP facility, with a production capacity of 320,000...
