Nippon Shokubai confirms feasibility study for Chattanooga SAP plant restart

Nippon Shokubai has provided an update on its superabsorbent polymers (SAP) business, following the 29 September 2012 fire, which knocked out 18% of the global SAP supply, at its main manufacturing facility at Himeji, Japan. The company says it has received “a lift of restrictions for some part of facilities” in the plant from the local authorities—including the restart of a steam boiler, some combustion facilities for liquid waste, and some related facilities in the plant—to maintain public safety at the plant site.   The...
