World News and Views :: Top of the News Nine EPS manufacturers establish consortium for Reach authorization of HBCDD6:46 AM MST | December 19, 2012 | Sotirios Frantzanas ReachCentrum, a subsidiary of Cefic, says that nine manufacturers of expanded polystyrene (EPS) have joined forces to establish a hexabromocyclododecane (HBCDD)-authorization consortium for the preparation of an application for authorization of the use of the substance as a flame retardant in EPS in buildings, under the European Union's Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation, and Restriction of Chemicals (Reach) legislation. The founding member-companies of the consortium are Ineos Styrenics (Channahon, IL), Monotez (Athens), Polidux (Madrid), StyroChem Finland...
