World News and Views :: Top of the News Monsanto suspends RR1 royalty collections in Brazil12:12 PM MDT | October 18, 2012 | Rebecca Coons Brazil’s largest soybean-growing state has ruled that Monsanto must suspend royalty collections on its ubiquitous first-generation Roundup Ready (RR) soybean technology until the question of the seed’s patent term is determined. Monsanto says it is appealing the ruling, handed down yesterday by Mato Grosso’s state appellate court, but will suspend collections across all of Brazil to “maintain operational efficiency.” A consortium of Mato Grosso farming groups and Famato, Mato Grosso’s agricultural federation, filed a lawsuit...
