Monsanto Roundup Claim Upheld

The U.S. Supreme Court has upheld a lower court ruling that awarded Monsanto $375,000 from a Mississippi farmer who the company sued for planting Roundup Ready [soybean] seeds saved from previous years’ crops. Monsanto says Homan McFarlane purchased the seeds in 1998 and planted seeds from that year’s crops in 1999 and 2000. The Roundup Ready license allows growers to use the seeds in one growing season only, Monsanto says.
