Monsanto Nears Settlement in West Virginia Dioxin Case

Monsanto and plaintiffs in a West Virginia medical monitoring lawsuit may have a deal to settle the case which stems from the company’s legacy liability for a former Agent Orange production unit at Nitro, WV. Jury selection has begun for the scheduled trial, but the parties met yesterday to discuss a potential settlement, according to the Charleston Gazette. Another hearing is scheduled for today. Plaintiffs allege Monsanto’s manufacturing of the defoliant before it was banned in the 1970s resulted in dioxin contamination in the area. The suit seeks...
