World News and Views :: Top of the News Monsanto Aims to Double Crop Yield by 203012:54 PM MDT | June 5, 2008 | Michelle Bryner Monsanto says it will develop seeds that double crop yield for corn, cotton, and soybeans by 2030 as part of its "commitment to help increase global food production in the face of growing demand, limited natural resources and a changing climate." In addition to doubling yield, Monsanto says that its next-generation seeds will reduce by one-third the consumption of key resources, including energy, fertilizer, and water, required to grow crops by 2030.
