World News and Views :: Top of the News Mitsui and Sinopec to Form Joint Venture for EPT Project in China4:20 AM MDT | October 28, 2010 | Deepti Ramesh Mitsui Chemicals says it will establish a 50-50 joint venture with Sinopec, tentatively dubbed Shanghai Sinopec Mitsui Elastomers, for a ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer (EPT) plant to be located at the Shanghai Chemical Industry Park in Shanghai, China. The two companies had signed a letter of intent in December 2009 to conduct a study for the EPT jv project. The jv will be established in the second half of 2011 and the EPT plant will have a capacity of 75,000 m.t./year. The plant will begin commercial operation in the first quarter of 2014.
