Mitsui & Co. to Acquire the Pharmaceutical and Chemicals Business of Japanese Firm

Mitsui & Co. has agreed to acquire the pharmaceutical and chemicals business of Mercian Corp. (Tokyo) for an undisclosed amount. Mercian split off its pharmaceutical and chemicals business, and a special-purpose company, MBS (Tokyo) was established on April 11, 2011 as a vehicle for the transaction, and MBS will be transferred to Mitsui & Co. The transaction is expected to be completed on July 1, 2011.
