Mitsui Swings to Loss

Mitsui Chemicals recorded a net loss of ¥1 billion ($12.5 million) in the fiscal year ended March 31, 2012, compared with a net profit of ¥24.9 billion in the previous fiscal year. Sales increased 4.4%, to ¥1.45 trillion. Revenues at Mitsui’s petrochemicals segment increased 5.8%, to ¥459.4 billion, but the segment reported a 27% fall in operating profits, to ¥9.3 billion.
