World News and Views :: Top of the News Mitsui Chemicals Inaugurates Singapore Elastomers Plant3:05 AM MDT | July 13, 2010 | Natasha Alperowicz Mitsui Chemicals today held the official opening ceremony of its Tafmer olefin elastomers plant at Jurong Island, Singapore. Production at the 100,000 m.t./year plant started in March this year by wholly owned subsidiary Mitsui Elastomers Singapore (MELS). Total investment cost was $200 million. The ceremony was attended by leading Singapore government officials, including Lim Hng Kiang, minister for trade and industry of Singapore and Leo Yip, chairman of the Singapore Economic Development Board.
