World News and Views :: Top of the News Mitsubishi to Restart Mizushima Cracker by October 235:57 AM MDT | October 14, 2008 | Deepti Ramesh Mitsubishi Chemical will restart its naphtha cracker at Mizushima, Japan, which had been shut for an unplanned inspection, by October 23, say reports. The Mizushima cracker, which has a capacity of 496,000 m.t./year of ethylene, was shut down on October 9 after an unusual odor was detected. The company has found a crack in a piping joint, which it plans to replace, reports add. The company does not intend to increase the operating rate of its two crackers at Kashima, Japan from the current 80%-85% rate, until the restart of the Mizushima cracker, due to weak...
