Mitsubishi Chemical Posts a First-Half Loss and a Fall in Sales

Mitsubishi Chemical reported a net loss of ¥2.5 billion ($28 million) for the fiscal first half ended September 30, 2009, compared with a net profit of ¥23.5 billion in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year. Sales decreased by 28%, to ¥1.14 trillion, mainly due to a substantial decline in demand and fall in selling prices in the company’s chemicals and performance products segments, Mitsubishi says.
