World News and Views :: Top of the News Minnesota Becomes First State to Ban BPA3:30 PM MDT | May 11, 2009 | Kara Sissell Minnesota has passed a ban on bisphenol a (BPA) in baby bottles and sippy cups, and food containers intended for use by children the age of three. Minnesota is the first state in the U.S. to ban BPA, although New York’s Suffolk County passed a similar measure last month. The Minnesota law prohibits manufacturers from selling children’s products containing BPA beginning January of next year, and retailers will have to have products containing BPA off the shelves by January 1, 2011.
