Merck KGaA Boosted by 50% Rise in Liquid Crystal Sales   Pharmaceuticals and chemicals group Merck KGaA (Darmstadt, Germany) says sales of liquid crystals for the second quarter of this year increased 50% to a record €284 million ($371 million). The firm’s liquid crystal activities helped drive up group Ebit by 76% to €325 million, on sales up 16% to €2.2 billion.
