LyondellBasell plans expansion at two Texas ethylene plants

LyondellBasell Industries says it plans a second round of US ethylene debottlenecks, including a 250-million lb/year expansion of its Channelview, TX cracker by 2015. The company is also studying a larger expansion of its Corpus Christi, TX cracker. Company officials say it is premature to discuss the size of Corpus Christi expansion, but say that the project under consideration there would be larger than Channelview. LyondellBasell also says it continues to see “significant interest” from potential partners in a grassroots joint venture or condo cracker.
