World News and Views :: Top of the News LyondellBasell Agrees to Mothball French Refinery Rather Than Close It Permanently8:14 AM MDT | October 10, 2011 | Ian Young LyondellBasell has agreed to mothball its refinery at Berre, France for up to two years, having announced late last month that it would close the refinery permanently. The mothballing will be effective on December 31, 2011. The decision follows a strike by workers at the Berre site, which began on September 27, and intense negotiations between trade unions and the LyondellBasell management.
