Lonza and Swiss authorities agree to address mercury pollution

The state council of the Swiss canton of Valais and Lonza today announced the establishment of a coordinating committee to address the problem of mercury pollution between Visp and Niedergesteln. The committee will oversee various working groups. Lonza, as the first action, has committed to pre-finance investigations to identify polluted areas between Visp, the company’s main manufacturing site in Switzerland, and Niedergesteln and to evaluate the environmental impact.
