Lanxess commissions CO₂ concentration unit in South Africa

Lanxess says it has commissioned the previously announced, new carbon dioxide (CO2) concentration unit at its production site at Newcastle, South Africa. Lanxess invested about €40 million ($54.2 million) to build the unit, and the construction was completed in 19 months. The investment creates 10 new jobs at the Newcastle site. The company operates a plant at the site for the production of sodium dichromate, which is mainly further processed into chrome tanning materials for the global leather industry.
