World News and Views :: Top of the News Lanxess Brings Forward Butyl Rubber Project in Singapore10:37 PM MST | January 17, 2010 | Deepti Ramesh Lanxess says it will bring forward its plans to build the previously announced new butyl rubber facility at Jurong Island, Singapore. The 100,000-m.t./year plant, with an investment of about €400 million ($575 million) was delayed twice in the past, due to falling demand for the product. Lanxess says it will hold a groundbreaking ceremony in May 2010, and production is expected to start in the first quarter of 2013. Demand has stabilized in the last six months and the global butyl rubber market is expected to grow again by an average of more than 3%/year in...
