He will succeed Harri Kerminen who will retire on that day. Kerminen led Kemira through a major strategic change into a water chemistry company. Büchele has been a member of Kemira's board of directors since 2009. He spent most of his career at BASF’s fine chemicals business in Europe, China and the U.S. and was expected to joint BASF’s executive board in 2008 but left the company suddenly.
