World News and Views :: Top of the News Japan Approves Monsanto's RR2 Soybeans12:08 PM MST | February 5, 2008 | CW Editorial Staff Monsanto says it has received regulatory approval from Japan, the Philippines, and Taiwan for its second-generation Roundup Ready (RR2) soybean technology. Monsanto's RR2 soybean received regulatory approval in Canada and the U.S. in July 2007, and is currently under review in China, Europe, and other key export markets, the company says. Monsanto plans to launch the new technology in a controlled commercial release on 1 million-2 million acres in 2009, with a full-scale launch of 5 million-6 million acres in 2010.
