Japan Announces Guidelines for Carbon Footprint Program

The Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI; Tokyo) says it has developed guidelines for a previously announced carbon footprint system to be introduced in Japan. The carbon footprint system is part of the Japanese government’s efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and, under the system, products will carry a label indicating carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions generated throughout their life cycles.
