World News and Views :: Top of the News Israel Chemicals Reports Higher Earnings and Revenues as Fertilizer Sales Nearly Double2:14 AM MDT | August 24, 2010 | Natasha Alperowicz Israel Chemicals (ICL; Tel Aviv), a fertilizers and specialty chemicals producer, reported a 73% increase in gross profit at $662 million in the second quarter of 2010 and a 94% rise in net income to $296 million. Operating profit more than doubled to $384 million and revenues were up 38% at $1.5 billion. The company says that the second quarter of this year was its best-ever second quarter with the exception of the second quarter of 2008, which was a 'spike' year throughout the fertilizer and specialty chemicals industries.
