World News and Views :: Top of the News Iran and Venezuela Start Building Methanol Plant; Chabahar to Become Big Petchems Hub3:00 AM MDT | August 22, 2011 | Natasha Alperowicz Iran and Venezuela have started work on a previously announced methanol project at Assaluyeh, Iran, says Abdolhossein Bayat, Iran’s deputy oil minister and managing director of National Iranian Petrochemical Co., (NIPC; Tehran). NIPC and Pequiven earlier agreed to build two methanol plants, each designed for 5,000 m.t./day, at Assaluyeh and at Jose, Venezuela.
