World News and Views :: Top of the News Ineos to Buy BASF's Seal Sands, U.K. Site8:30 AM MDT | March 13, 2008 | Kerri Walsh Ineos says it has agreed to buy BASF’s Seal Sands, U.K. site. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. BASF produces acrylonitrile (AN), adipodinitrile (ADN) and hexamethylenediamine (HMD), along with by-product plants at Seal Sands. The deal excludes BASF’s HMD and ADN plants, BASF says. BASF will continue to own the HMD plant, but Ineos will operate the unit for BASF. ADN will be produced at Seal Sands until the plant is shut down at the end of 2008, under BASF’s previously announced plans (CW, June, 20, 2007, p. 5). BASF produces about 230,000...
