Ineos Takes Huge Leap into Fifth Place

Ineos has climbed from number 47 in last year’s Billion-Dollar Club ranking, to number five this year, thanks to its $9-billion acquisition of Innovene from BP at the end of 2005. That deal increased annual sales more than four-fold, to $36 billion, and made Ineos a major player in ethylene oxide (EO) and derivatives, phenol, polyvinyl chloride (PVC), and styrenics, as well as acrylonitrile, alpha-olefins, olefins, polyolefins, propylene oxide, solvents, and styrene.
