World News and Views :: Top of the News Ineos Buys BP's U.K. Ethyl Acetate and VAM Business8:07 AM MST | January 11, 2008 | Natasha Alperowicz Ineos says it has agreed to buy BP's ethyl acetate and vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) business in the U.K. for an undisclosed sum. BP put the business up for sale last year. The deal comprises 250,000 m.t./year each ethyl acetate and VAM plants based at Hull, U.K., as well as an ethylene pipeline connecting the Hull complex with the Teesside, U.K. olefins complex. "The addition of these facilities broadens the Ineos portfolio of oxygenated solvents, optimises existing links with our Grangemouth site and helps us to meet the growing demand for both...
