India Plans to Re-activate Eight Closed Fertilizer Plants

India's Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers (New Delhi) is developing an action plan to re-activate eight closed fertilizer plants across the country, according to Satish Chandra, joint secretary at the ministry. Addressing the press during a recent India 2020-Chemical Fertilizer Sector-Government Policies, Challenges and Growth Strategies seminar, he said that the re-opening of these units will help meet "to some extent" urea shortages in the country. The ministry will approach some private sector enterprises to take over and if that does not work...
