Henkel to buy Russian subsidiary of consumer products firm Wellchem

The Russian antitrust authorities have approved Henkel’s acquisition of the Russian subsidiary of Wellchem Chemical Holding (Vienna). The Russian firm, formed in 2006, is one of the largest domestic producers of hair styling, air fresheners, and car cosmetics aerosols. Its annual output is 12 million units/year. Henkel entered the Russian market in 1991 with global brands such as Persil and Losk detergents; Schauma, Gliss Kur, Palette, and Brillance cosmetics; Ceresit mortar; and Metylan wallpaper adhesives.
