World News and Views :: Top of the News Georgia Gulf to Temporarily Idle Least-Efficient PVC Production12:40 PM MDT | November 2, 2007 | CW Editorial Staff Georgia Gulf says it plans to temporarily idle 700 million lbs/year of its least-efficient polyvinyl chloride (PVC) capacity in an effort to "improve operational efficiency." Net reduction in capacity will be 250 million lbs/year once the company’s new 450 million lbs/year of PVC capacity comes online at Plaquemine, LA. The company previously announced that it expects this new capacity to be operational in early 2008.
