Georgia Gulf Idles PVC Resin Plant in Ontario

Georgia Gulf says it will temporarily idle its 450 million lbs/year Sarnia, Ontario PVC resin manufacturing facility by mid-December. The plant will be restarted sometime in first quarter 2008. The company had previously announced plans to remove 700 million lbs/year of PVC resin capacity at its least-efficient plants in an effort to “improve operational efficiency.” Additional options are being reviewed for the temporary removal of the additional 250 million lbs/year of capacity, the company says.
